Three Week Tour of China
|
|
Considering President Nixon first visited China in 1971, travel to China in 1980 was still very unusual. Add to that the fact that the trip was connected to the Smithsonian Institution and we were treated as representatives of the United States. During the three weeks we visited: Shanghai, Wuxi, Guilin, and Nanjing. The trip ended with a few days in Hong Kong, which was still under British control. I would like to return and visit the places I missed back in 1980, such as Beijing and X'ian. I have only included a few copies of the hundreds of slides I took on the trip. They have been divided not on the basis of city but into a group that represents the people of China and a second group that represents some of the places in China. |
